Guide 71: Guide for addressing accessibility in standards

The ISO/IEC GUIDE 71:2014 is a guide to including accessibility to people with disabilities, children and older people in the development of technical standards including ICT standards. It was designed to provide an understanding of accessibility requirements for the creation of standards for products and services that many people use. Updated from its initial publication in 2001, the second edition takes a more inclusive approach, recognizing that accessibility and usability standards can benefit all users.

The Guide provides a breakdown of specific accessibility goals, as well as support and guidance for achieving these goals in the form of background information, terminology, resources, and common accessibility needs.

The goals are a blend of material from the W3C Web Content Authoring Guidelines (WCAG) and Principles of Universal Design.
